Some rain for the north
Drier south

Thursday
A mostly dry and bright start for England and Wales, but with some light rain or drizzle elsewhere. Some sunny spells will develop from Midlands southwards. As the wind will turn northwesterly through the morning, this will push a narrow band of rain, this mostly light, southwards, clearing the far southeast by the late evening. A fair amount of showers will follow for most areas, however these will tend to be focused mostly across Scotland and the coastal areas. As the north-northwesterly wind will bring colder air, showers will turn wintry over higher ground in Scotland. Heavier and most frequent showers for Northern Isles, where gales will develop later in the day. Generally light winds in England but strong across the rest of the country, with some gales developing later across exposed and coastal areas in Scotland. An early maximum with tops of around 12C, but it will gradually feel colder in the evening, starting from Scotland.

Thursday Night
Windy in the north and east along with frequent showers, these turning wintry over higher ground but also at low levels across Moray and Aberdeenshire with icy stretches possibly developing. Much drier further south and west. Minimum temperature at 2C in north but 7C in south.

Friday
Squally showers for Scotland and the eastern counties of England through the day, as well as a few pushing along the Irish Channel. Showers will be wintry over Scotland even at lowers levels in the north. As high pressure will build in from the west, it will be a much drier and brighter day across Northern Ireland, Wales and away from east coasts in England with some good sunny spells too. Windy in north and east, but some light breeze elsewhere. As winds will get lighter in the evening a frosty night will follow for some. A cold feel for most, with tops of 5 to 6C in north and east, but temperature may reach 9C in the sunnier west.

Saturday
A mostly dry and bright day for most areas, but for some showers remaining along the east coasts mainly in the morning, before easing away in the afternoon. High pressure will become dominant later in the day with fairly light winds and widespread frost on the following night with a few fog patches possible. Tops of 5 to 6C in the afternoon.
