Warmer temperatures further ahead
Some better summer weather in the outlook this week, although still some rain at times. High pressure building for the weekend across most of the British Isles.

Wednesday 24/7/24 A ridge of high pressure covers Britain bringing a fair day for many with sunny spells. High cloud tending to build from the west as a warm front approaches. This will bring rain and drizzle increasingly across Ireland, then reaching western England and Wales by the evening. Some rain later in the day too for Northern Ireland, extending into western Scotland into the night. Southwesterly winds freshening in the west too. Pleasantly warm, highs 18 to 24C.
Thursday 25/7/24 Rain spills eastwards overnight and into the daytime, heaviest and most prolonged over western hills. A dry start for east and southeast England, but rain will arrive here during the daytime, some heavier showery bursts mixed in through southern counties in the afternoon. Rain clearing to scattered showers for Scotland and Ireland. Generally cloudy skies, some late brightness in the west and northwest. West to southwest breezes. Highs 17 to 22C, warmest southeast.
Friday 26/7/24 A few scattered showers are likely, but a good deal of dry weather during the day. Sunny spells and variable cloud, best sunshine near to coasts in the south and southwest in the afternoon. Light westerly breezes. Pleasantly warm, highs 18 to 25C, warmest in south.
Saturday 27/7/24 High pressure to the southwest trying to build for the weekend. A few showers remain likely toward the north and east, but dry conditions for most places. Light west to northwesterly breezes. Highs 19 to 25C.
Sunday 28/7/24 A fine and warm day under high pressure. Plenty of sunshine, some broken cloud forming. Small chance of isolated late afternoon showers. Light winds and sea breezes. Highs 20 to 27C.
Monday 29/7/24 Fine weather is likely to continue in most of Britain and Ireland with high pressure in charge. Southwesterly breezes toward northwest Scotland may bring a little rain. Highs 21 to 28C.
