A mixed week with some rain and showers at times, but drier, warmer days too

A mixed week ahead with some rain and showers at times. There will be drier days too and on these days it is likely to be feeling warm. Hints of some rain again later in the forecast period, mostly in the west.

Tuesday 16/7/24
The area of low pressure is east of the UK on Tuesday. It takes cloud and periods of rain with it, although these continuing to affect eastern areas, some heavy bursts may occur. Tending to be brighter as the rain clears although some showers are going to be developing. These may become heavy and thundery in the afternoon in central and eastern areas although drier over western coasts and hills. A warm afternoon at 19 to 23C.

Wednesday 17/7/24
A ridge of high pressure covers the country on Wednesday, bringing a mostly dry day with sunny spells. Cloud increases in the west later with rain arriving in Ireland during the evening. Highs at 25C in eastern England, 18C in Ireland.



 
 
 

Thursday 18/7/24
Low pressure drifts into the west of Scotland bringing a breezy day with heavy showers here, the heaviest in the west of Scotland. Showers too the north and west of Ireland with some affecting northwest England. Other areas will be bright with sunny spells and isolated showers. Temperatures at 23C in southern England, 14C in northern Scotland.


 

Friday 19/7/24
Higher pressure builds again on Friday. This gives a fair day with some reasonable spells of sunshine. Thicker cloud could afect the west of Ireland. Highs at 19 to 25C.



 
 
 

Saturday 20/7/24
Lower pressure passing west of Scotland again on Saturday. Some wind and showers or patchy rain affecting Scotland and northern England as well as west Wales and southern Ireland. Drier eastern and southern England and bright in Ireland too. Highs at 18 to 23C.

Sunday 21/7/24
The area of low pressure gives some mor rain to Ireland and the western Uk through Sunday. Drier in the east with some sunny spells. Temperatures at 17 to 23C.
