Mixed again with rain and showers, temperatures generally near average although a couple of very warm days in the east

Staying mixed during the coming week. Low pressure areas bringing some outbreaks of rain and showers, most of them in the north and west. However anywhere could see showers. A couple of drier days with temperatures briefly very warm in eastern and southern areas, otherwise temperatures close to or just above average.

Friday 19/7/24
Starting fine for most on Friday with good spells of sunshine and becoming very warm in central and eastern areas too. A weakening front in the west brings cloud and some showery rain to western Scotland and the western coasts of England and Wales. As the front nudges east in the afternoon it may set off a few thundery showers in central areas. Thicker cloud and some rain reaching western Ireland and western Scotland later. Highs at 29C in the southeast, 22C in Ireland, northern and eastern Scotland, nearer 19C on the cloudier west coasts.


Saturday 20/7/24
Low pressure northwest of Scotland on Saturday with weak fornts bringing some showers to northern and western areas. Drier in central and eastern areas at first, but then showers developing here in the afternoon. Highs at 26C in the southeast, 19C in the west.


 


Sunday 21/7/24
Low pressure north of Scotland on Sunday. Rain affects northern and western Scotland as well as Ireland, most of it showery. For England and Wales there will be broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. A few showers developing in the afternoon, mostly in the west and south. Highs at a cooler 17 to 22C.


 


Monday 22/7/24
Low pressure west of Scotland on Monday. Rain affecting much of western and central Scotland with some showery rain in western England and Wales. brighter in central and eastern areas of England, but cloud increases bringing some showers into the west later. Highs at 14C in northwest Scotland, 22C in southeast England.


 


Tuesday 23/7/24
Low pressure crosses Scotland to be in the North Sea on Tuesday. Rain for much of Scotland, some heavy in the east. A ridge of higher pressure building in the west allowing for a brighter day for most with sunny spells. Mostly dry, but a few showers affecting western coasts and hills. Highs at 16C in eastern Scotland, 24C in southern England.

Wednesday 24/7/24
The ridge of high pressure is over the British Isles on Wednesday. This brings a fair day with sunny spells and dry weather. Cloud increases in western Ireland and western Scotland later. Highs at 17 to 24C.
