Drier toward the weekend
Complex areas of low pressure will circulate near to Britain during this week, keeping things rather unsettled with some heavy showers or longer spells of rain at times. Higher pressure shows signs of moving in from the west late in the week to bring better weather for many into the weekend.

Wednesday 10/7/24 Heavy rain extends northwards overnight into Wednesday, with further heavy rainfall into the daytime for Scotland and northern England. For central and southern England and Wales plus much of Ireland, it is likely to be a mix of bright spells and scattered heavy showers, these focused toward the west in the morning, forming most widely for central and eastern areas of England into the afternoon. Strong southwesterly winds in the south. Quite humid, highs 15 to 22C.
Thursday 11/7/24 Showery rain is likely for Scotland, northern England also Northern Ireland. Some heavy showers forming locally for England and Wales during the day. Possible thundery rain over France moving into the southeast of England. Central areas may escape often dry. Variable cloud and occasional sun. High pressure starting to build from the west toward Ireland. Winds variable or northwesterly. Highs 15 to 21C.
Friday 12/7/24 A ridge of high pressure starts to expand across the country from the west bringing better conditions especially in the north and west. Still a risk of local scattered showers forming by the afternoon, mainly in eastern areas. Small risk of low pressure over the near-continent giving heavy rain in the south and southeast of England for a time. Light northerly breezes. Highs 16 to 22C.
Saturday 13/7/24 Many places looking fine under generally high pressure. Sunny spells and well broken cloud. Chance of local showers forming by the afternoon. Possibility of low pressure pivoting over the North Sea giving stronger northerly winds and risk of some rain in the northeast. Otherwise light winds and pleasant. Highs 17 to 23C.
Sunday 14/7/24 Fine conditions continue for many with high pressure over the country. Localised showers by afternoon remain possible. Pleasantly warm, highs 18 to 24C.
Monday 15/7/24 Many places may remain fine, feeling warming and quite humid. An uncertain risk of showery rain moving in from the southwest. Highs 17 to 25C.
