Rain at first in southern areas, then drier and colder with plenty of sunshine in the north

Wet to start this morning in the Midlands, East Anglia and much of southern England, lots of mist and murk covering hills too. It is drier and brighter oin much of Scotland and Ireland, cooler here as well. Some showers in the far northwest of Scotland. The rain clearing southern England by ate morning, then drier but rather cloudy. Best sunshine in Ireland, northern England and Scotland where it will be windy.

This afternoon is cooler for all. Some cloud in the south but mostly dry although some rain may tease the far south coasts. Brighter and drier for northern England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, good spells of sunshine here. Scattered showers in northwest Scotland.

Tonight sees heavy showers in western Scotland and windy weather here. Further showers in western Ireland. Drier in the east and south, some sunny spells here. Windy for all too.
