Occasional rain, this heavy and persistent in Northwest. Some snow over far north of Scotland later.

Some higher pressure will extend over Southern Ireland and southwest England with mostly dry conditions expected throughout the day along with some sunny spells, these most frequent over Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. Further north expect outbreaks of rain, this heavy and persistent in places. Winds will be lighter than of late, but still strong in exposure over Scotland. It will feel colder across Scotland with maximum temperature at 7C, but at 10C in south.

Through the evening, a longer spell of rain is expected over Scotland and possibly northwest England. Rain may turn into snow over north Scotland and more specifically across Northwest Highlands and the Grampians overnight into Saturday, even down to low levels for a time. Minimum temperature will not drop below 8C across most parts of the country, but we should see 3C across the far north Scotland.
