Morning Call - December 24, 2023
Mild and wild
Rain frequent in west

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 24th December 2023
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Gales, local powerful gusts

Good morning,

It's a very blustery Christmas Eve as southwesterly winds prevail over Britain and Ireland. Gusts up to 40 to 50mph inland, or stronger around exposed coasts and hills, including local powerful gusts east of the Pennines.

Western areas will be grey and frequently wet with rain or drizzle most persistent over the hills. Some heavier rain for Wales and the southwest. Showery in western Scotland, with snow on the higher mountains.

Drier and brighter toward eastern regions, but limited sunshine with lots of cloud cover. Staying mild in the south tonight, dropping cooler in the north, locally a frost in Highland Scotland.

Today's top temperatures widely above 10C, up to 13 or 14C in central and eastern counties, locally a shade higher possibly. Slightly cooler in northern Scotland.

Have a great day.
Garry
