Colder, damp at times too with soe wintry showers on hills

Colder conditions through this week bringing our first taste of winter. There could be some wintry showers from time to time on hills and it is likely to be quite damp on some days. However, drier on other days with overnight frosts. The end of the week needs to be watched for the potential for some more widespread colder weather.

Tuesday 28/11/23
Apart from some showers across coastal areas, most of the country will see a dry and bright day with the best of the sunshine across England. Somewhat cloudier later in Northern Ireland with a few showers developing. Starting breezy in southeast, but winds will ease off soon and become fairly light everywhere. It will be a rather cold day with temperatures not exceeding of 4C to 6C across most parts.


Wednesday 29/11/23
A mostly dry start to the day across the country with some good spells of sunshine across eastern England. Cloud will thicken up in the afternoon as a band of rain will arrive across Northern Ireland spreading across western Scotland, Wales and western England by the evening. Light winds at first, but freshening up later. Tops of 5C in north, but it will be milder in south with maximum temperature at 10C.


Thursday 30/11/23
Even though the predictability is quite low from Thursday onwards, it is possible for a new low pressure system to track northeast across the country bringing outbreaks of rain for many areas. As it will meet colder airmass, rain may turn into snow even down to lowers levels. It may turn windy with maximum temperature at mid single figures.
 


Friday 1/12/23
The messy weather may continue on Friday with outbreaks of rain and possible snow even down to low levels in north, with strong winds and a generally a cold feeling. The situation will be re-evaluated the next days.


Saturday 2/12/23
It looks drier and brighter, but with some showers affecting mostly the northern and eastern areas, with wintriness over high ground. Best of drier, brighter weather in England. Tops of 3C in north and 5C in south.

Sunday 3/12/23
Cold in eastern areas with a few showers, some wintry on Sunday. Rain may arrive in southern Ireland and the ar southwest of England. Drier elsewhere with some morning fog slowly clearing to leave some sunny spells. Highs at 4 to 7C.
