Atlantic lows continue to dominate

A changeable week of weather again with further periods of rain affecting all regions. Temperatures fairly mild in the south, but cooler in the north.

Wednesday 15/11/23
Low pressure centred over the North Sea. Showery rain frequent in the northwest of Britain and Ireland. Rain for a time in northeast Scotland also. Mostly dry and bright for central and southern England and Wales. A fresh westerly breeze. Risk of further rain reaching the southwest later in the day as another Atlantic system approaches. Highs 8 to 13C, mildest in south.

Thursday 16/11/23
Uncertain progress of low pressure passing eastwards. Risk of extensive rain and brisk winds. The worst may pass to the south, but a risk of heavy rain running across southern England during the day. Showery bursts in the west and northwest, some constant rain for western Scotland. Drier to the east. Highs 7 to 12C.

Westerly breezes bring a mix of sunshine and showers, local heavy bursts in the west. Often drier toward central and southeastern regions of England, also drier in eastern Scotland, with sunny spells. Highs 8 to 12C.

Low pressure influences the country and rain extends eastwards across most regions. Breaking up into showers in the southwest. Brisk west to southwesterly winds in the south, but milder air likely here. Highs 10 to 14C.

Sunday 19/11/23
Staying unsettled with areas of rain, most frequent and heaviest in the north and west of Britain and Ireland. Showers for central areas. Drier south and east. Cool in the north, mild south. Highs 8 to 12C.

Monday 20/11/23
Low pressure is likely to stay nearby, with further areas of persistent rain possible. Cool in the north. Breezy and showery in southern areas. Highs 7 to 11C.
