A rather cold week
Rain at times

Issued: 0900 Friday 24th November 2023
Duty forecaster: Filotas Paschos

A wet Monday, becoming drier on Tuesday, but again messy from Thursday

Low pressure on Monday will bring outbreaks of rain for most. Once this clears, a northeasterly flow will push showers across northern and eastern coasts. Rain, strong winds, and possible snow over higher ground from Thursday.

Monday 27/11/23
A messy start to the day with outbreaks of rain, this mainly away from Northern Ireland and Western Scotland. As low pressure is now moving across the Low Countries the wind will turn northeasterly bringing a fair amount of showers across the east coasts, while it will get drier elsewhere through the afternoon. Freshening winds coming from the northeast with some stronger gusts in east. Tops of 6C in north but to 8C in south, however it will feel rather cold in the freshening wind.

Tuesday 28/11/23
Apart from some showers across coastal areas, most of the country will see a dry and bright day with the best of the sunshine across England. Somewhat cloudier later in Northern Ireland with a few showers developing. Starting breezy in southeast, but winds will ease off soon and become fairly light everywhere. It will be a rather cold day with temperatures not exceeding of 4C to 6C across most parts.

Wednesday 29/11/23
A mostly dry start to the day across the country with some good spells of sunshine across eastern England. Cloud will thicken up in the afternoon as a band of rain will arrive across Northern Ireland spreading across western Scotland, Wales and western England by the evening. Light winds at first, but freshening up later. Tops of 5C in north, but it will be milder in south with maximum temperature at 10C.

Thursday 30/11/23
Even though the predictability is quite low from Thursday onwards, it is possible for a new low pressure system to track northeast across the country bringing outbreaks of rain for many areas. As it will meet colder airmass, rain may turn into snow even down to lowers levels. It may turn windy with maximum temperature at mid single figures.

Friday 01/12/23
The messy weather may continue on Friday with outbreaks of rain and possible snow even down to low levels in north, with strong winds and a generally a cold feeling. The situation will be re-evaluated the next days.
