Snow over eastern Scotland.
Rain elsewhere.

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 9th February 2024
Duty forecaster: Filotas Paschos

Snow even down to low levels over eastern Scotland. Milder in south with rain.

A low pressure system in the area will give generally unsettled weather conditions with outbreaks of rain, this possibly heavy in places along with strong winds. As an easterly wind will develop in north, expect sleet or snow over eastern counties of Scotland with slight accumulations even down to low levels away from the coast but up to 15cm over 200m possible. It will be windy with maximum temperatures of 3-4C over Scotland, Ireland and northern England but up to 12C over southern England.

Through the evening and night England and Wales will become drier with rain confined over Scotland and southwest Ireland, where it may be heavy at times. Snow over eastern Scotland mostly over higher ground with slushy accumulations down to low levels away from the coast, but with medium accumulations over 200m. Temperatures dropping to 3C in north but 10C in south.
