Plenty of cloud, some patchy rain in the north and west, becoming brighter and colder in Scotland and Ireland later
A chilly start to the day with a touch of frost in much of central, southern and eastern England. Milder elsewhere due to cloudier skies with outbreaks of rain in Scotland, northwest England and Ireland as well as northern Wales. The outbreaks of rain and increased cloud slipping through the Midlands and Wales during the morning as it turns brighter and drier in central and western Scotland and western Ireland.
The rain band fading over northern England and Wales this afternoon, mist and fog on hill tops here. Rather cloudy in central and southern England too. Brighter in Scotland and Ireland, a few showers in the northwest and turning colder from the north and west too.
