Strong gales and rain in the southeast, clearing as a ridge of high pressure builds A wet and windy start to the week in southeast England, with a low pressure system over France. Feeling very cold in the northeasterly flow and strong gales. A dry and more settled start to the morning in elsewhere, with some sunny spells and a touch of frost in the northwest.
A ridge of high pressure builds in from the Atlantic, easing away the rain in the southeast. So dry and brighter weather in the late morning and into the afternoon. Also dry for the rest of the UK and Ireland. Remaining windy and cold in the southeast. Increasing cloud building in across northwest Scotland. Best of the sunshine in the west.
Overnight, the cloud thickens from the west in Scotland and Ireland, with some drizzle developing along northern and western coasts. Clearer skies in the south. Slight widespread frost across the UK and Ireland. Feeling chilly, with slightly higher temperatures where cloud cover increases. Ishani
