Morning Call - November 23, 2023
Cloud & rain Scotland
Drier elsewhere

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 23th November 2023
Duty forecaster: Filotas Paschos

Mostly cloudy in north with outbreaks of rain, some spreading south later in the day

A mostly dry and bright morning for England and Wales with some good sunny spells developing. However further north the day will start cloudy with outbreaks of rain, this more persistent possible across Argyll, western parts of Strathclyde as well as Southwest Scotland. Some rain or drizzle expected across Northern Ireland. Rain will start pushing south by midday.

Rain will track south across north England in the afternoon and then later across the Midlands, Wales and the southern counties of England by the evening. Across Scotland the weather will become more broken with showers following, these more frequent in northern exposure. As the north-northwesterly wind will bring colder air, showers will turn wintry over higher ground in Scotland. Heavier and most frequent showers for Northern Isles, where gales will develop later in the day. Generally light winds in England but strong across the rest of the country, with some gales developing later across exposed and coastal areas in Scotland. An early maximum with tops of around 12C, but it will gradually feel colder in the evening, starting from Scotland.

Overnight it will remain windy in the north and east along with frequent showers, these turning wintry over higher ground but also at low levels across Moray and Aberdeenshire with icy stretches possibly developing there. Much drier further south and west with any remaining rain soon clearing away. Minimum temperature at 2C in north but 7C in south.
