Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 1st November 2023 Duty forecaster: Andy Chaloner
Showers moving in from the west.
A band of rain pushes northwards during the morning into Northern England and southern Scotland, tracking across the far north during the afternoon with possibly a little sleet on the hills. Elsewhere a reasonably bright start with showers starting across Wales and southwest England, with some early showers expected across the far southeast for a time too.
Showers become more widespread during the afternoon, moving through fairly quickly but some heavier showers are likely in the afternoon for just about anywhere. Rain persists across central and northern Scotland into the evening time. Highs of 9 to 13C north to south. <> Showers retreat towards northern and western coasts gradually overnight, with the odd heavier shower into the evening. Rain and strong winds affect southwestern England, with the risk of some localised flooding as the rain becomes heavy and persistent. Rain mostly confined to Devon, Cornwall and the south coast of wales into the early hours. Lows of 4C in Scotland under the showery rain, closer to 13C under the rainband in the southwest.
