Duty forecaster: Ishani Mistry

Cloud and rain, heaviest in the west, with drier conditions in northern England and Scotland

A cloudy morning for many in the British Isles, particularly in the south. A band of rain, turning heavy at times moving in from the southwest across southeastern Engand and Ireland. This will spread across Wales and Northern Ireland later in the morning. Dry but overcast elsewhere, with spells of sunshine in Scotland and northern England.

In the afternoon, the rain clears over southern Ireland, leaving behind drier and brighter conditions, and gradually tracks northwards. Heavier rain across southwestern Engand, Wales. Lighter rain in the southwest and in the Midlands, and drier in the north. Some sunny spells and remaining dry in northeastern England and Scotland, with a touch of frost.

Overnight, the risk of persistent heavy rain in the southeast, along western coasts in Scotland, and in southern Ireland, causing potential flooding on Monday morning. Spots of rain to the north and east of England, drier to the east of Scotland. Cloudy for all and windier in the south.
