Dry with sunny spells east

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 9th November 2023
Duty forecaster: Andy Chaloner

Showery day on west coast.

A chilly start in Scotland after a morning frost, with a cool start elsewhere across the country. Showers will occur during the morning across northwest England, much of Wales, parts of the Midlands and southwest England, being driven west to east and moving through fairly quickly with sunny spells in between.

During the afternoon the most prevalent of the showers will be across western coasts, with much of Wales, northwest England and southwest Scotland seeing frequent showers, but mostly sporadic further east of this. A dry and sunny afternoon for eastern and southern parts of England. Highs of 8 to 10C.
<> Showers retreat back to western coasts overnight into Friday, with clear spells leading to pockets of mist and some frost in rural places, as temperatures fall away rapidly. The odd shower is possible across northeast England too. A cold night in rural parts of Scotland, with temperatures below freezing. Lows of -2C in the glens of Scotland, 6C in southern England.
