Storm Ciaran tracks east.
A very windy start on Thursday as Storm Ciaran tracks eastwards through the day, with severe gales along the south coast of England and Wales during the morning, accompanied by spells of heavy rain tracking slowly northwards. The heaviest of the rain first thing will be across southwest England and south Wales.
Heavy bursts of rain too through much of Wales and the Midlands into the afternoon, as well as northern England and much of Scotland and a cloudy and murky day where it does remain dry. Winds will ease somewhat into the afternoon with rain easing off in Southwest England but lingering in south Wales and the Midlands well into the evening. Highs of 9 to 13C. <> It remains windy well into Thursday evening overnight into Friday with some heavy bursts of rain in northern and eastern Scotland. Showery rain persists too in North Wales and parts of the midlands. Drier elsewhere with lows of 8 to 11C north to south.
