Low pressure dominates again

Areas of rain and showers will continue to sweep across the country during the week ahead. Some drier intervals with sunshine which will feel pleasantly warm and springlike, especially in the south and east. Scotland staying cooler for a few days.

Wednesday 3/4/24
Low pressure spirals northwards bringing rain and low cloud to northern England, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland. Showery for central England and Wales. Risk of more frequent bursts of rain in the south, gusty winds through the English Channel. Brighter for northwest Scotland with an easterly breeze here. Highs 7 to 10C north, up to 14C in central and southern England.

Thursday 4/4/24
Showery for England and Wales, then a risk of more persistent and heavy rain moving in from the southwest into the afternoon with strengthening southwesterly winds. Scattered showers for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs 7 to 10C Scotland, up to 11 to 14C central England and Wales, locally 16C for southeastern England.
 

Friday 5/4/24
Areas of low pressure stay nearby bringing rain or showers, risk of some prolonged heavier rain spreading from the southwest on fresh southerly winds. Scotland may stay cool around 10C, otherwise mild, highs 13 to 16C for England & Wales.

Staying unsettled and showery with low pressure nearby. Frequent rain in the west. Windy but mild, south to southwesterlies. Highs 10 to 17C, warmest toward east.

Sunday 7/4/24
Southwesterly winds bring rain to the northwest. Drier south and east and fairly warm. Highs 10 to 17C.

Monday 8/4/24
Low pressure stays to the west, risk of rain for Ireland and western Britain. Dry and warm toward the east. Highs 12 to 18C.
