Near average temperatures, chillier in the breeze later in week

A slow-moving weather regime this week as high pressure resides over Scandinavia, whilst low pressure circulates to the southwest of the British Isles. Often cloudy skies, some patchy rain. Brighter weather generally toward the northwest. Occasional slight frosts. Fresh east winds later in the week, feeling cool.

Wednesday 6/3/24
Southerly breezes across the country, strongest in western areas. Some rain and drizzle for the southwest of England and Wales. A little drizzle in eastern Scotland. Elsewhere generally dry with fairly cloudy skies, some sun breaking through, mainly to the north of high ground. Heavier rain for the west of Ireland. Highs 7 to 11C.
 

Thursday 7/3/24
High pressure over Scandinavia expands across Britain. Many central, south and western areas dry with variable cloud. Low cloud in the east, a little drizzle in places. Scattered showery rain across Ireland. Southeasterly breezes. Fairly mild overall, but cooler near to northeastern coasts. Highs 7 to 11C.
 

Friday 8/3/24
High pressure stays to the northeast. A fresh east to southeast wind brings cloud and a few showers to eastern coasts and hills. Drizzly rain may affect the far south of Ireland and southwest England. Mostly dry with broken cloud, the best sunshine in western Scotland and northwest England. Highs 7 to 11C.
 

Saturday 9/3/24
A cooler day with a brisk east wind affecting all areas. Cloud and some patchy rain affecting much of England and Wales, especially eastern coasts. Showery in the south and southwest. Brighter and drier in the northwest. Highs 11C in the far south, but more generally 5 to 8C.

Sunday 10/3/24
Easterly winds continue making it feel cold. Further cloud and some rain affecting eastern coasts and hills. Showers toward the south. Brighter in western Scotland and Ireland. Highs 5 to 8C.

Monday 11/3/24
Easterly winds prevail. Cloudy and cool in central and eastern areas. Scattered showers. Patchy rain toward the far south. Mainly dry and brighter in the west and northwest. Highs 5 to 8C.
