Cool early week, milder toward Easter

A slow-moving and unsettled weather regime this week with low pressure anchored to the west of the British Isles for several days.

Low pressure dominates over Britain and Ireland with areas of rain and heavy showers. Downpours with hail and thunder in the south and especially southwestern areas. Snow on Scottish hills. Brisk winds and squally gusts. Highs 7 to 10C.



 
 
 

Thursday 28/3/24
Low pressure continues to circulate over the country. Staying unsettled and windy. More rain, most over western areas. Showers in the east. Snow over higher ground, especially in Scotland. Chilly for all. Highs 7 to 11C.



 
 
 

Good Friday 29/3/24
Low pressure stays centred to the west. An ongoing mix of sunshine and showers. The showers heaviest in the west and southwest, blustery winds here too. Drier and brighter in eastern areas. Feeling a little milder. Highs 9 to 12C.

Little change with low pressure staying to the west. Showers mostly in the west, drier in the east. Feeling milder with southerly breezes. Highs 10 to 15C.

Easter Sunday 31/3/24
Clusters of showers in the west and south, perhaps merging into more persistent rain. Cloudy for most places. Brighter toward the northwest. Highs 10 to 14C.

Monday 1/4/24
Easterly winds are likely. Cloudy and cool in central and eastern areas. Scattered showers. Patchy rain toward the far south. Drier in the northwest. Highs 9 to 13C.
