A change in weather bringing less rain, increased winds and near average temperatures

A change in weather patterns during the coming week as high pressure builds over Scandinavia with low pressure south and west of Ireland and the UK. This tending to bring less rainfall and some dry days. Winds will be increased with temperatures generally close to average but feeling cold in the wind.

Tuesday 5/3/24
A band of rain edges slowly east into Tuesday to be through eastern areas of the country on Tuesday morning, most of it light and patchy by then. Drier weather in the west, some sunshine in Ireland although cloudy elsewhere. The rain slowly fades from eastern areas although leaves it cloudy and rather murky here. Sunnier spells in western England, Wales and western Scotland as well as much of Scotland. Highs at 7 to 11C and feeling milder.


Wednesday 6/3/24
Rain passing east through Ireland on Wednesday with skies also clouding over through central, southern and western England and Wales. Patchy rain falling here in the afternoon. Drier in more northern and eastern areas. A brisk south to southeast wind. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, more widely 7 to 11C.


 


Thursday 7/3/24
High pressure over Scandinavia on Thursday with low pressure west of Ireland. A brisk southeast flow affects many areas. Dry for most with broken cloud and some sunshine, although there is a riks of some cloud and patchy rain in eastern Scotland. Highs at 5 to 11C.


 


Friday 8/3/24
Low pressure west of Ireland with high pressure again over Scandinavia. The east to southeast flow persists and may bring some cloud and a few showers to eastern coasts and hills. Rain may affect the far south of Ireland and southwest England. Other areas should be dry with broken cloud, the best sunshine in western Scotland and northwest England. Highs at 9 to 11C.


Saturday 9/3/24
A cooler day on Saturday with a brisk east wind afecting all areas. Coud and some patchy rain affecting much of England and Wales, especially eastern coasts. Western areas becoming brighter, some sunny spells here. Highs at 11C in the far south, but more generally 5 to 8C.

Sunday 10/3/24
Low pressure in southern areas on Sunday. Rain and a strong northeast wind making it feel cold. Further cloud and some rain affecting eastern coasts and hills. Brighter in western Scotland and Ireland. Highs at 5 to 8C.
