Sunshine and showers midweek

Northerly airflows maintain cool temperatures during midweek. Scattered showers will be in the forecast, but also some sunny spells. Toward the weekend, a greater risk of rain developing more widely as low pressure returns.

Cool northerly breezes across the country. A scattering of showers mixed with sunny spells. Often cloudy in eastern counties. Sunshine best toward the southwest of England, also Northern Ireland and western Scotland. A touch of frost at dawn where skies are clear. Max temperatures 7 to 13C.
 

Thursday 25/04/24
Pressure starting to lower allowing showers to form more widely, but hit and miss and some places staying dry again all day. Greater risk of some rain for Northern Ireland and eastern Scotland, with snow on the mountains here. Staying cool and rather cloudy, but winds fairly light. Highs 8 to 12C.
 

Friday 26/04/24
Areas of rain and showers drifting around slowly under slack low pressure. Risk of rain moving into southern Ireland and southwest England. Winds fairly light. Staying rather cool, highs 9 to 13C.

 
 
 

Saturday 27/04/24
Low pressure develops further, centred toward the southwest and brings a risk of more extensive rain, heavy in places. Scotland may escape drier, especially in the west and north. Unpleasantly cool under cloud and rain, highs 8 to 12C.

Sunday 28/04/24
Low pressure drifts northwards. Showery for many places. Possibly drier toward the east. A little less cool. Highs 9 to 14C.

Monday 29/04/24
Light southerly breezes. Showery in the west and southwest. Drier to the east. Highs 10 to 15C.
