Risk of hail and thunder
Good morning,
It's a classic day of April showers ahead with some large clouds filling the sky capable of producing hefty bursts of rain, hail and an isolated rumble of thunder.
A cold front clearing southeastwards over the Home Counties in the morning brings an early spell of rain, followed by brighter skies then a scattering of showers. Southern and southwestern England will see some sunny spells developing.
The most frequent and heaviest showers will be over northern areas, Scotland and northern England, advancing increasingly eastwards into the afternoon.
Today's top temperatures will be 9 to 12C, but feeling distinctly chilly in the strong to near-gale force west-northwesterly winds.
Have a great day. Garry
