Brighter conditions from the north following the cold front through the afternoon

A cool start to Monday morning in southern and eastern regions, with a touch of ground frost in rural areas. Cloudy across Scotland, northern England, and Northern Ireland, and sunny spells in southern Ireland. The cold front will bring a few showers to Scotland and northern England. Drizzle and light showers across southern England.

Once the cold front passes through it will start to brighten up from the north in the afternoon. The chance of patchy drizzle in the south, with some hazy sunshine in East Anglia. A few breaks in cloud in southwest and western regions of the UK. Staying dry in Northern Ireland, and sunny intervals in the south. A notable temperature contrast, with the northerly flow bringing chiller conditions to the east, and a much milder feel in the west.

Overnight, light drizzle and showers across central England, and dry but cloudy elsewhere. Clearer skies to the north, particularly in western Scotland and Ireland. Cool temperatures for both the east and west.
