Unsettled with strong winds and rain, severe gales and flooding in places
Warmer weather is on its way for the week ahead. Temperatures will be above average for all areas although a brief cooler day is possible. The jet stream brings low pressure areas off the Atlantic which will be pounding the UK and Ireland with spells of wind and rain. Severe gales are likely at times in the west and south. Some early hints of an improvement by the middle of next week.

Friday 30/11/18
Low pressure stays north of Scotland on Friday. A cooler day with sunshine and a scattering of showers here and there. Most areas staying dry. Stronger winds in the north and west of Scotland where there is a higher risk of showers, these wintry on hills. Temperatures reaching 6C in northern Scotland, 10C in southern England.
 Saturday 1/12/18
Another unsettled day on Saturday as fronts pass eastwards taking rain with them. Following will be a mix of sunshine and showers. Strong winds are likely in the south of the UK and Ireland. Snow showers over the hills of Scotland. Highs at 4 to 11C.
 Sunday 2/12/18
Staying unsettled for Sunday with low pressure bringing rain across much of Ireland, England and Scotland. This probably clears to showers. Drier in Scotland with fewer showers and better spells of sunshine but feeling colder here. Highs at 3 to 12C.
Monday 3/12/18
Low pressure west of Ireland on Monday. Fronts bringing some rain eastwards through all areas, heaviest in the west. A breezy day too. Tops at 6 to 14C.
Tuesday 4/12/18
Another area of low pressure may pass through Scotland on Tuesday. This brings the threat of further rain and strong winds. Gales affecting many areas, these severe in the west and south. Highs at 9 to 15C.
Wednesday 5/12/18
There are hints that Wednesday may be a better day with a ridge of high pressure building. This may bing a day of dry weather and sunny spells. Highs at 6 to 11C.
