Simon: A day of contrasting temperatures ahead, with a chilly 7C in northern Scotland and up to 18C in southeast England. That temperature contrast creates an aea of heavy rain which could bring as much as 50mm over Wales and the prospect of a very wet rush- hour this evening in Wales and northern England as well as parts of the Midlands.

Claire: Rain clears away from the southeast this evening and overnight while fronts bring more rain into the far northwest. The coolest temperatures overnight will be for areas under clearer skies - namely the northeast of Scotland, north of England, central Wales and southeastern Ireland.
