Garry: Merry Christmas!! It's a dull and damp day for most places, with low cloud, fog and some drizzle in the west. A frosty start in the north-east is as close as we will get to a white Christmas this year.

The forecast is for fog in the eastern Midlands and East Anglia as well as parts of southeast England. Misty further west, but some fog in southwest Scotland too. Watch out for Rudolphs nose shining in the fog and shut your eyes if you see it!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Simon: Still some cloud and spots of drizzle through Ireland, Wales and southwest England this Christmas Eve afternoon. Sunnier and dry to the north and east although some fog and low cloud lingers around the Wash.

Simon: A foggy start to Christmas Eve in the Midlands, East Anglia and southern England. This should be lifting to leave a cloudy day. Better sunshine in Scotland and northern England after an early frost.

Claire: Cooler temperatures are continuing to sink southward over England as the rain band moves further south. Heaviest rain now is over North Wales. The rain will continue to ease through this evening and overnight becoming increasingly confined to the south and southwest.

Claire: The rain over England is starting to ease as the band sinks southward however there are still some heavy bursts for northwestern Wales. Temperatures still very mild to the south ahead of the rain with highs widely at 12 or 13C.

Claire: Showers continue for many this evening while a heavier, more persistent band of rain is starting to creep into western Ireland. This rain will spread eastward through this evening and tonight leading to a wet start to Sunday for Ireland, Wales and much of England. Clear skies in Scotland overnight will allow for the development of some mist and fog.

Claire: It's turning increasingly windy this evening in western areas as a cold front edges into Ireland. Strong winds and heavy rain will edge further eastward overnight with rain reaching western fringes of Scotland and Wales by the early morning.

Snow over the hills of central Scotland with snow on the leading edge of rain as it moves through the Midlands and northern England, turning back to rain in central areas, although lasting in northeast England and Scotland.
