Dry for many today, but severe gales in the west of Ireland
Severe gales in the west of Ireland this morning and into the first part of this afternoon. Gusts of over 70mph here. It is a mostly dry morning elsewhere with light winds in much of England as well as some sunny spells. Rain affects western Ireland with some showers in northeast Scotland.
The rain and strong winds will be edging east through Ireland and into the west of Wales and western England. Gales continue to affect western Ireland. Drier and brighter in eastern parts of England with a few showers in northeast Scotland. Tonigth sees the rain spreading east through all parts of Ireland and the UK, with severe gales in central and northern Ireland.
