Mainly dry for most and remaining cold
A cold start for many with frost and ice, especially across northern areas with some wintry showers remain in evidence. Through much of the morning though it will be mainly dry with some sunny spells, but thicker cloud bringing rain across SW England.
Some wet weather is likely to affect south-west and perhaps some far southern counties of England as well through the afternoon, but otherwise dry with a lot of dry and bright weather, despite some wintry showers across Scotland.
Quickly turning cold into Saturday evening and night with a harsh frost developing across more northern areas where it will remain mainly dry for much of the night. Thicker cloud, with rain and drizzle will develop across Ireland and SW England through Saturday night this spreading north and east through the early hours and turning to snow.
