Northerly winds strengthening
High pressure will be nearby through the weekend into early next week, although as the position of the high shifts, northerly winds become stronger and a scattering of showers will develop as the week progresses. These very hit and miss and many places may stay largely dry.

Tuesday 02/06/20 Most of England & Wales are dry with sunshine on Tuesday. Perhaps hazier in the north and west with high cloud. A front extending across Scotland and Ireland will bring more cloud overall here and a risk of scattered slow-moving showers forming, these may be locally thundery by afternoon, but very hit and miss. Light east to northeast winds, feeling cool along North Sea coasts. Highs at 20 to 24C inland.
Wednesday 03/06/20 High pressure located to the northwest maintains a general northeasterly breeze, strongest in the south. A few isolated showers forming during the day especially towards the southwest, but again many places staying completely dry. Sunshine and some broken cloud. Temperatures ranging from 14 to 24C for most, warmest inland for central and western parts of England & Wales.
Thursday 04/06/20 A general northerly airflow is expected later in the week, with cooler conditions extending south across the British Isles. A few showers are possible, but remaining fairly hit and miss, with western areas more likely staying dry. A fresher wind and lower temperatures with highs of 12 to 13C for northern and eastern coasts, 17 to 21C in the south.
Friday 05/06/20 Cool northerly winds continue with showery rain spreading across Scotland, and scattered showers possible elsewhere. Sunshine and broken cloud. Northern Scotland barely reaching 10C, with highest temperatures in southern England at 18 to 20C.
Saturday 06/06/20 Cool conditions are expected to prevail into the weekend with sunshine and a few showers. Showers most likely for eastern parts of England where a strengthening wind will also affect coastal areas. Highs at 11 to 18C.
Sunday 07/06/20 Staying cool into Sunday with a prevailing northerly flow. A mostly dry day with some broken cloud and sunshine. Isolated showers for northern and eastern coasts. Highs range from 12 to 18C.
