Colder for all with a risk of wintry showers in the north, mostly dry next week and staying chilly
After a warm day for most on Friday, and warm again in the south on Saturday, much colder weather will be draining south. Wintry showers could affect northeast Scotland. Higher pressure then builds bringing clearer skies, together with overnight frost, mostly in the north and west. Dry for much of next week, but the risk of some rain and stronger winds in the far south later.

A much colder day on Sunday as a cold front clears southern England. Across central and southern parts of England, Wales and Ireland there will be cloud and a few spots of rain. Sunshine and dry weather following into northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There could be some showers in northeast England, these wintry, mostly on the hills. Feeling cold in the moderate to fresh northeast wind. Highs at just 5C in northern Scotland, 8C along eastern coasts, 12C in southwest England and western Ireland.
High pressure remains west of Scotland on Monday with an early frost in the north and west.. A frost in northern and western areas at first. It will be another cold day with the flow from the north and northeast. A few showers afecting eastern coasts. For most other areas it will be a dry day with lots of sunshine, the best of it in the west. Highs at 8C on eastern coasts, 11C in the west.
High pressure remains over the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. This will be bringing a fine day with lots of sunshine, after an early frost in England, Wales and Ireland. A weak front in northeast Scotland giving cloud and a few spots of rain, and the threat of isolated showers over East Anglia. Highs at 9 to 12C.
High pressure remains dominant over the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. The weather should be staying fine with plenty of sunshine. There may be some cloud again in the far north of Scotland and northeast England. Highs at 12 to 17C.
High pressure is likely to be over Scotland on Thursday. This brings a fair day with good spells of sunshine, the best to the north and west. Breezier in southern England with the chance of some cloud here. Highs at 14 to 19C.
The threat of some patchy rain and showers in southern England, where it will be breezy too. Drier for other areas with the best sunshine again to the north and west. Highs at 14 to 21C.
