Windy start with showers, drier in the early part of the week, but mixed again later

Windy weather at first bringing some showers and fresher conditions, mostly in northern and western areas of Scotland and Ireland. The winds become lighter next week as the weather turns drier. Becoming mixed again in the middle to later stages of the week, some spots of rain and showers at times.

Sunday 24/5/20
Fronts affecting northern England, Ireland and Scotland on Sunday bringing plenty of cloud and some rain, mostly to northern and western areas. The rain more patchy in the east with a higher chance of some sunny spells here. Variable cloud in southern areas, certainly more sunny spells under higher pressure. Highs at 14 to 18C overall, 21C in the southeast.


Monday 25/5/20
With pressure staying high to the south, a moist southwest flow affects the country on Monday. This brings plenty of cloud in northern and western parts of the UK and Ireland. Mostly dry, just a few spots of drizzle over western coasts and hills. Brighter and drier in the east and south. Highs at 24C in southeast England, 14C in western Scotland.
 


Tuesday 26/5/20
A weak front passes through Scotland, Ireland and into northern England on Tuesday. There will be cloud and a few spots of rain associated with the front. Fresher, brighter and drier in central and northern Scotland. Fair in southern and central England and Wales, some bright or sunny spells. Highs at 26C in southeast England, more widely 20 to 23C in any sunshine but colder north of the front at 13C to 17C.


Wednesday 27/5/20
Pressure remains high over the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. A weak front will give lots of cloud in Ireland, northern England and Wales as well as southwest England. Bright and dry in northern Scotland with sunny spells. Some sunshine to the south. Highs at 23C in southern England, 15C in northern Scotland.


Thursday 28/5/20
A ridge of high pressure persists in England, Wales and southern Ireland bringing dry weather with sunny spells. Fronts may give rain to the northern half of Ireland and western Scotland, a few spots of northwest England too. Drier and brighter to the east. Highs at 23C in southern areas, 12C in northern Scotland.

Friday 29/5/20
Fronts passing east on Friday bringing showery rain. Turning brighter from the wes with sunny spells. A few showers in western Scotland and Ireland, drier to the south. Highs at 14 to 22C.
