Issued: 0530hrs Monday 9th December 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A mostly dry and bright day for the UK and Ireland though some coastal showers will persist through the morning. Winds ease to the east but start to pick up again later from the west accompanied by cloud and outbreaks of rain later.

Good morning,

A breezy but mostly dry and bright start to the day across the UK on Monday. A few showers affecting southwest Scotland, western Wales and eastern coasts of Scotland and England; some of these wintry in nature. Gales still affecting eastern parts of England though showers and winds both ease through the morning. Cloudier over Ireland with cloud spreading to the east.

A mostly dry afternoon across the UK and Ireland as showers continue to ease. Perhaps persisting over far eastern parts of England. Good spells of sunshine too, especially across the eastern UK. Cloud continues to build to the west while a some light, showery rain may affect the far west of Ireland and far west of Scotland. High temperatures on the chilly side at 3 to 8C.

Winds pick up to the west as showery rain affects western Ireland and western Scotland into Monday evening. This will turn to snow over higher ground in Scotland. Cloud builds across the rest of the country.

Have a good day!

Claire
