A mixed week, some heavy showers but also sunny spells, most showers west and south
A mixed week ahead with low pressure south of the British Isles. This bringing some cloud and outbreaks of rain, followed by showers through the later part of the week and into the weekend. Showers could be heavy and thundery at times. Tending to be warmest in the west, although feeling cooler on eastern coasts and hills.

Friday 17/5/24 Low pressure over central Europe on Friday. A mix of sunny spells and showers, most showers in western areas of England, some of them heavy and thundery. Brighter and drier in central and eastern parts. Drier in Scotland and Ireland with sunny spells here. Warm in the west. Highs at 14C over eastern coast, but more generally 17 to 20C.
Saturday 18/5/24 Low pressure remains over central Europe on Saturday. A bright start to the day with sunshine, some showers forming quickly in the south. The showers getting heavier in the afternoon, especially in central and western areas where they could be thundery. Brighter and drier in the east. Highs at 16 to 21C.
Sunday 19/5/24 Low pressure stays south on Sunday. More showers developing over England and Wales, but some sunny spells too. Drier for Scotland and Ireland, sunny spells and dry. Highs at 17 to 20C in a brisk east wind. Feeling cooler on eastern coasts.
Monday 20/5/24 Low pressure over central Europe on Monday. Sunny spells and dry weather to start the day. Scattered showers developing, most in the east and south with some heavy showers over Wales and Ireland. Highs at 17 to 21C.
Tuesday 21/5/24 Low pressure remains over central Europe. Sunny spells and dry weather, some showers developing in the afternoon. Highs at 17 to 21C. Cool east but warmest in the west.
Wednesday 22/5/24 Low pressure stays south on Wednesday. Heavy showers develop over southern England and Wales. Drier in northern England, Scotland and Ireland with sunny spells. Highs at 17 to 21C.
