A mixed weekend, with occasional rain spreading from the west. Next week, high pressure will often influence the British Isles, bringing plenty of dry and bright weather. Temperatures will be pleasantly warm in sunshine. A little rain will graze the far north-west at times.

Monday 13/03/17
A ridge of high pressure builds across the country, bringing a fair day to much of Britain & Ireland. A good amount of sunshine. Thicker cloud in the north-west, and patchy rain may affect western Scotland. Winds fairly light, although a fresh northerly breeze affects coasts in the south-east, whilst south-westerlies affect the north. A rural grass frost in the north at dawn. Top temperatures 10 to 14C.

Tuesday 14/03/17
High pressure across the south brings another dry day to many places. A westerly breeze across the north brings cloudy skies and occasional rain or drizzle to Scotland & Northern Ireland, whilst much of England & Wales will see good spells of sunshine. Starting cool in the south. Daytime highs 10 to 12C north-west, up to 14C central areas, or 16C in the east.

Wednesday 15/03/17
High pressure remains in charge, and is likely to extend more widely across the country. A dry and bright day overall, with plenty of sunshine. More cloud in the far north-west, may bring drizzly rain to western Scotland. Light south to south-westerly winds, or locally easterlies on the south coast. A cool start, but mild by day, highs 11 to 15C.

Thursday 16/03/17
High pressure centred toward the south-east produces a mild or very mild southerly flow. Dry for much of the country, with plenty of sunshine. Risk of rain in the far north-west as fronts graze past Scotland. Light winds. Highs 10 to 16C.

Friday 17/03/17
Detail is uncertain. Rain may turn more persistent in the north-west, whilst central & south-eastern regions should stay dry and warm. A freshening south-westerly breeze. Highs 10 to 16C.

Saturday 18/03/17
Confidence low. Likely becoming cooler from the north as fronts try to extend southwards. Risk of persistent rain in the north & north-west, but the south & south-east may escape dry. Highs 8 to 14C.
