Wednesday
A weak cold front drifts slowly across Wales and northern England, producing grey skies and outbreaks of rain or drizzle for a few hours, but fading. Mostly cloudy for central England, a little sun. Some rain grazing the far south-east, but will clear eastwards. A few showers in western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Bright with some sun for eastern Scotland. A fresh west or northwesterly breeze, strongest around western coasts. Highs 20 to 22C south-east, typically 16 to 19C.

Wednesday night
Most places will be dry with clearing skies into the evening and night. Localised brief showers around western Scotland and perhaps Irish Sea coasts. Light winds, but a fresh westerly affects Scotland and north-east England. Some mist patches forming inland before dawn in low-lying areas. Temperatures dipping into single figures out of towns and cities, lows 5 to 10C, with a touch of ground frost for Scottish glens and rural valleys in northern England and mid-Wales.

Thursday
High pressure builds across the British Isles, bringing a fair day to most places. A good deal of sunshine. Local showers around north-western coasts in the morning will fade. Fair-weather cloud building up inland, and may gradually widely cloud over. A chance of isolated showers over northern hills by afternoon. Winds generally light. Coastal breezes forming in the south and west. A fresh breeze in north-eastern areas in the morning. Highs 17 to 23C, warmest central England.

Friday
Dry with plenty of sunshine for much of Britain with high pressure centred to the east. A little cloud filling in by the middle of the day inland. Cloud thickening in the west as fronts move in from the Atlantic, which may bring patchy rain or drizzle to Ireland and perhaps the far the south-west of Britain. Southerly winds freshening around western coasts. A chilly start, with ground frost in rural northern Britain, also Wales. Pleasantly warm by day, highs 18 to 23C.
