Drier north & east

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 14th May 2021
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Sunny spells and showers, some heavy, towards the south and west. Drier further north and east yet cloudy.

Possible patchy outbreaks of rain to start the day across the southeast corner of England. This should clear off to see sunny spells and showers through the rest of the morning. Across southern England, Wales as well as Northern Ireland and Ireland will see sunshine and showers, some heavy and possibly thundery. Elsewhere, expect rather cloudy skies but largely dry conditions.

This afternoon, showers will continue across southern and western areas, some heavy and possibly thundery still. Drier further north and east. More persistent rainfall expected across southwest Ireland and far southwest of England by evening.

Rain will track northeastwards becoming patchy and broken as it pushes across much of the country overnight and reach southern parts of Scotland by dawn. Clearer spells but also showers will develop behind. Remaining largely dry across the rest of Scotland although scattered showers look to affect the far north including the Northern Isles but also the Western Isles.
