Mild south, cold north
Rain in mid UK & Ireland

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 23rd December 2014
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Mild and windy south, cooler and fresher north, rain in the middle

Good morning, Wow, Christmas is getting close. If you are out and about early this morning you will be either warm, cold, wet and or depending on where abouts you are in the UK.

Scotland is going to have a bright day with sunny spells, best in central and eastern areas, but watch for the showers to the north and west. Northern England and Ireland as well as the west and north of Wales are cloudier with some rain here, heaviest on western facing coasts and hills, but drier to the east. Southern and central England and windy and mild, but mostly dry.

A band of rain slipping south tonight with the cold front, and as its name suggests this will be introducing colder air with further wintry showers in northern and western Scotland.
