Severe gales with snow in the north

Good morning, It's a very windy morning across Scotland, northern England and Ireland. There are severe gales and gusts of wind over 70mph here. Frequent, heavy and wintry showers in much of Scotland, northwest England and Northern Ireland. Snow showers could merge into longer periods of snow in northern and central Scotland with blizzards here at times. Even low levels in Scotland may see some snow.

More snow showers in Scotland this afternoon with the threat of longer periods of snow in central Scotland. Snow showers extending to the Pennines and a few in Northern Ireland too. Rain showers for western Wales and the far southwest of England.

The rest of England and Wales will be dry with sunny spells, although breezy.
