Wintry showers

Much of this week is looking quite unsettled and quite cold. Brisk north to north west winds will bring Arctic air south keeping temperatures below normal with significant wind chill added in. A milder day across Britain on Monday then wintry showers to affect mainly the west and east at times while central areas will be dry and sunny.

Tuesday 28/11/17
Outbreaks of heavy rain will be clearing away from East Anglia and the south east as it turns sunny with showers into the west. A strong north wind will push much colder air south later in the day. Snow showers may fall to low levels across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland. Icy patches to affect inland locations overnight. Expect highs of 4 to 7C.

Wednesday 29/11/17
A cold day and feeling colder still in the wind. Central parts of Britain will be dry with unbroken, crisp, wintry sunshine. A mix of sleet and snow showers may affect western and eastern coasts. These showers linger into the evening and night. A cold, breezy night with any frost restricted t sheltered locations. Icy patches again may be found where showers fell. Very windy. Expect highs of 3 to 6C.

Thursday 30/11/17
It looks to remain stays cold with a bitter wind chill factor. Again western and eastern parts may see a number of snow showers down to low levels. Central parts look dry and quite sunny. Windy and cold by night with icy patches. Look for highs of 3 to 5C.

Friday 01/12/17
Again cold but that brisk north wind tends to lessen through the day. A mainly dry, sunny day for many. Just a few showers around western and North Sea coasts. Perhaps a cloudier and less cold night with an area of light rain tracking south but low confidence on this. Expect highs of 3 to 6C.

Saturday 02/12/17
Temperatures up a few degrees, again confidence is low. Increasingly windy today as some patchy rain tends to clear. Rather cloudy for most with a few rain showers to be found in the west. Rain sweeps into Britain overnight. Expect highs of 6 to 8C.

Sunday 03/12/17
It looks like a cold day and breezy with morning rain clearing East Anglia and the south east. Showers to affect the north and the west, these turning more wintry over high ground. Look for highs of 3 to 8C.
