Issued: 0900 Monday 23rd April 2018
Duty forecaster: Dr. Simon Keeling

Very warm then turning cooler and more showery next week

We say goodbye to the warm weather of the past few days as temperatures become nearer average. It is going to become more mixed for all too with some rain and showers. The weekend is likely to be turning more unsettled with low pressure in control and becoming breezy and cool. Little change into next week.

For the weather for the next few days click here

Thursday 26/4/18
Low pressure north of Scotland brings a showery, westerly flow through the UK and Ireland on Thursday. Most of the showers affecting northern and western Scotland, tending to be more scattered in other western parts. Central and eastern areas seeing the fewest of the showers and the best of any sunny spells. Many parts of the far south of England may stay dry and bright throughout. Highs at 11 to 14C.

Friday 27/4/18
Lower pressure developing south of the country through Friday. This brings the risk of rain to southern England. Other areas will be brighter with sunny spells and a few showers, most in western Scotland and western Ireland. Increased cloud in southern Ireland, Wales and most of England. Highs at 10C in northern Scotland, 16C in central and southern England.

Saturday 28/4/18
Low pressure is expected to be over the south of the UK and Ireland on Saturday. This brings cloud and periods of rain, some of them heavy at times. Drier in Scotland with the best sun in the west. Murky east and south too. A breezy day and cool at 9 to 12C.

It will be breezy and chilly in northern areas of the UK and over Ireland where there will be rain. Muggier with some heavy showers and a few bright spells in England and Wales. Highs at 10 to 16C.

Monday 30/4/18
Pressure is expected ot be staying low over or close to the UK and Ireland on Monday. This brings more mixed conditions. There will be periods of rain and a fair amount of cloud, although detail is hard to achieve at this time. Better in northwest Scotland. Highs at 10 to 16C.

Tuesday 1/5/18
Staying mixed through Tuesday with further showers. Some sunny spells too and the chance of some more persistent rain in the west. eastern areas probably seeing the best of any sunshine. Highs at 10 to 15C.
