Issued: 1000 Monday 21st October 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Changeable conditions return for most from mid-week

Cooler temperatures for most areas this week as an area of high pressure builds across the country. This brings a spell of settled weather at the beginning of the week which gives way to more mixed conditions once more from mid-week onwards.

Thursday 24/10/19
Thursday looks to see outbreaks of rain continuing for northwestern parts of the UK and Ireland as low pressure remains to the northwest. Showers affecting western parts of England and Wales. Drier to the east and south but with some cloud around. Isolated showers may develop later. Best of the sunshine over central areas. Highs at 9 to 15C for most.

Friday 25/10/19
An area of low pressure may bring strong winds, cloud and outbreaks of rain to Ireland, Wales, much of northern England and southern Scotland on Friday. Eastern England and the north of Scotland should be drier. Highs at a cold 5 to 7C for Scotland, Northern Ireland and much of Ireland; 12 to 15C for England, Wales and the far southeast of Ireland.

Saturday 26/10/19
A band of rain clears to the southeast over England on Saturday as low pressure clears to the northeast and high pressure builds from the west. Showers affecting western coastal regions of Scotland and Ireland with some good spells of sunshine developing for northern and central areas. Feeling cold with highs at 7 to 11C.

Sunday 27/10/19
Confidence is low but it may be that high pressure builds once more on Sunday bringing a mostly dry and settled day. Showers and light outbreaks of rain affect the far northwest and southwest with highs at 7 to 10C for most.

Monday 28/10/19
Confidence remains low into Monday but we may see high pressure move off to the east allowing an area of low pressure to bring strong winds and outbreaks of rain to Ireland and western parts of the UK. Drier but still cloudy to the east. Highs ranging from 7 to 13C, mildest to the south and southwest.

Tuesday 29/10/19
Confidence remains low but the UK and Ireland could see a southerly flow develop on Sunday allowing milder temperatures to edge northward. Outbreaks of rain and showers continue for western areas, drier to the east. Highs at 7 to 15C.
