Windy with rain at first, dry and settled mid-week

Into next week, winds turn northwesterly for a time, and temperatures will drop again for a couple of days at least, with some wintry showers. Higher pressure builds for a time mid-week bringing dry and settled conditions across the country briefly before westerlies arrive once more bringing mixed conditions towards the end of the week and into next weekend.

Wednesday 05/02/20
High pressure builds over the UK and Ireland through midweek bringing a dry and fair day for many. Occasional showers affect far northern and western areas at times but otherwise it stays dry. Cloud builds from the west later with the best of the sunshine over eastern parts of England and Scotland. Staying cool after a frosty start with highs of 5 to 8°C.


Thursday 06/02/20
High pressure slips slowly to the east and low pressure approaches from the west bringing increasing cloud across the British Isles. Light outbreaks of patchy rain affect parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as far western parts of England, Wales and Scotland later in the day. Staying dry to the east where the best of any brightness will be. A frosty start with high temperatures reaching 5 to 8°C for most, 10 or 11°C in western Ireland.


Friday 07/02/20
Friday could see pressure lowering across the country with strengthening winds for many. Outbreaks of rain develop for western and northwestern areas later, staying dry though to the southeast. Some good spells of sunshine will develop - the best of these over eastern parts of England and Scotland. Highs widely reaching 6 to 10°C.
 


Saturday 08/02/20
A band of rain clears to the southeast of England through the morning leaving a mixture of sunny spells and frequent showers. Showers most likely to the west where some will be heavy. These will turn wintry over higher ground. Highs at 3 to 6°C for Ireland, Scotland and Northern Ireland, 7 to 9°C for England and Wales.


Sunday 09/02/20
Sunday sees low pressure continuing to dominate bringing outbreaks of heavy rain, snow over higher ground and strong winds across the country. Brighter conditions follow from the west with scattered wintry showers for western coasts and hills. Highs ranging from 1 to 4°C across Scotland and northern England, 6 to 12°C everywhere else.

Monday 10/02/20
A northwesterly flow prevails through Monday bringing another mixed day of sunny spells and showers. Showers most frequent over northwestern-facing coasts and hills and will turn wintry over higher ground. Highs ranging from 2 to 8°C.
