Week ahead - August 22, 2018
Changeable heading into the weekend.

seiten=6 abk=aweekahead

Freshening up generally with cool nights to come.

Sunshine and showers for the start of the weekend, then with areas of rain pushing in from the west later. Signs of high pressure for a time around the middle of next week, before weather fronts approach from the west.

Saturday 25/08/18
A northwesterly flow across the British Isles will weaken gradually as a weak ridge of high pressure builds from the west. Sunny intervals and showers, the showers most likely in the north and west of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northwest England but becoming few and far between elsewhere. Cool, brisk northwesterly winds in exposed areas at first but easing gradually. Feeling fresh, highs 12 to 15C in the north and west, 17 to 19C in the southeast.

Sunday 26/08/18
A weak ridge of high pressure will move away east, allowing frontal troughs to push across northern and western areas. Rain, into the west of Ireland early, will spread east gradually across Ireland and reach Southwest England, West Wales and the north and west of Scotland by the evening with some drizzly outbreaks developing across western hills ahead of this. Staying dry and bright to the east with some sunshine. Highs 13 to 17C generally, locally 18 or 19C in the south and east.

Monday 27/08/18
A frontal trough continues to make slow eastwards progress across the British Isles, weakening in the process. A cloudy start for many parts with rain or drizzle but with this becoming patchier. Turning dry across Ireland, much of Scotland and sheltered central and eastern parts of England with some sunshine breaking through. Highs mainly 15 to 18C but reaching a warmer 20 to 22C in any brighter southern and eastern areas.

Tuesday 28/08/18
Low pressure to the southwest of Iceland swings northeast with weather fronts affecting the British Isles. Confidence low in distribution of rain. Cloud and rain or drizzle across England and Wales moving east, with some spells of sunshine developing. Another rain band is likely to move into Ireland and Western Scotland, however. Highs 14 to 17C in the north and west, possibly up to a reasonably warm 23C in the south and east under brighter skies.

Wednesday 29/08/18
A ridge of high pressure builds north across England, Wales and Ireland. Early rain in the east and south, otherwise dry across England, Wales and Ireland with spells of sunshine developing. Showers for Scotland with more persistent rain in the west and the best of any sunshine for eastern areas. Highs 13 to 16C in the north and west, 17 to 19C in the east and south.

Thursday 30/08/18
A ridge of high pressure across most areas for a time but with frontal troughs reaching the west later. Largely dry by day with some sunshine, just the slight risk of an isolated shower. Rain and strengthening south to southwest winds moving across Ireland and into Western Scotland overnight, though. Highs 14 to 17C in the north and west, 19 to 21C in the south and east.
