Largely dry with a few showers locally, mainly north-eastern coasts. Best sunshine and lightest winds in western England & Wales, also much of Scotland. Mostly cloudy skies in central England. An area of rain pivots across the far east of England as low pressure resides over the North Sea - risk heavy rain for many hours along the coast of East Anglia. Windy with possible gales on exposed eastern coasts. Some rain also for western Ireland. Cool again, highs 7 to 11C.

Tuesday night
Most places will be dry overnight, with variable cloud in the west, but good clear breaks forming for many areas. A few showers around western coasts, where southwesterly winds will strengthen. A chance of frequent rain for west Wales. Where skies stay clear, a slight frost is possible inland for west and northern regions of Britain, dipping close to 0C in rural areas, or just below freezing Scottish glens. Lows 3 to 6C for central and eastern England.

Wednesday
Central and south-east England plus eastern Scotland should be dry much of the day with good sunny spells. Areas of showers in the west and north of Britain and across Ireland, some heavy bursts on and off, locally merging to give frequent rain for a few hours. Later in the day or overnight, persistent rain may move into southern England. Winds fairly light, mostly south or southwesterly. Milder than earlier in the week, highs 8 to 10C north, 11 to 13C Midlands and south.

Thursday
A complex trough of low pressure influences the British Isles. Bursts of rain in places, locally frequent for a few hours, likely focused across central-eastern England - a risk of rain setting in for a large part of the day. Scattered showers west & north, mixed with periods of dry and bright weather. Winds varied, south veering westerly, gusty around rain and near coasts. Milder than earlier in the week, highs 10 to 13C.
