Unsettled with heavy showers or rain, mild overall but turning cooler for a time next week

An unsettled week ahead with low pressure bringing rain or showers on most days. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperatures are mild at first, but then cooler air briefly arrives in northern areas during the weekend, slipping south through the rest of the UK and Ireland early next week.

Friday 27/9/19
The weather stays unsettled on Friday. There will be low pressure close to Scotland and this affects all parts of the country. There will be showers, some of them heavy. Strong winds in England and Wales with the showers thundery at times. More persistent rain may affect western and northern Scotland. Temperatures at 12 to 16C in the north and west, 20C in southeast England.

Saturday 28/9/19
Low pressure remains in control through Saturday. This gives broken cloud and showers to many, but more persistent rain in places, Ireland and the west of the UK. Breezy again. A cool day in Wales and the northern UK and Ireland at 12 to 15C, milder to the southeast at 18C.
 

Sunday 29/9/19
A area of low pressure crossing the UK on Sunday. This takes heavy periods of rain with it. Following from the west during the afternoon will be sunny spells and heavy showers as well as cooler weather. Showers in northern Scotland and Ireland. Windy in the south too. Highs at 17C in the south, 11 to 13C elsewhere.
 

Monday 30/9/19
Low pressure to the east on Monday with cooler air following from the north. Rain in southern areas clearing eastwards, this then followed by sunny spells and showers. Cool for the northern half of the UK at 11 to 14C, 21C in southern England.

Tuesday 1/10/19
A cooler, northerly flow on Tuesday. This brings showers to eastern areas. Drier in the west with sunny spells here. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 14C in southern England.

Wednesday 2/10/19
High pressure brings a fair day with sunny spells. It should be dry for all areas with temperatures at 12 to 18C.
