Mixed weather through the coming week, cold with rain and showers at times
A mixed week with low pressure bringing rain and showers. It is likely to be windy too and will be chilly at times. A tendency towards less cool weather next week as a ridge of higher pressure starts to build to the south.

Low pressure east of the UK on Saturday brings a cool northerly flow. With it comes a mix of sunny spells and a few showers in the east at first. Increasing cloud in the west as a ridge of high pressure builds. Light rain and drizzle in western Ireland and western Scotland perhaps spreading into northern England and the Midlands through the afternoon. Highs at 12C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England.
A warm front passes east through Scotland bringing cloud and some outbreaks of drizzle in northern and western Scotland as well as western Ireland. Lower cloud with some drizzle in western Wales and southwest England too. Elsewhere it should be drier with bright or sunny spells, the best of these in the east and south. High temperatures at 12 to 18C.
A cold front brings rain, some it locally heavy, southeastwards through England and Wales on Monday. Brighter and cooler conditions with showers following into Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as northern England later. Highs at 17C in southern England, 12 to 15C for most areas.
A fair day is likely over much of England, Wales and eastern Scotland, but cloud increases from the west bringing a risk of rain to western Ireland and western Scotland. High temperatures at 11 to 17C.
A windy and damp day with rain affecting many northern and western areas. Southern parts should be drier though not immune from the odd shower. Staying cool with highs at 12 to 18C.
Thursday continues breezy with outbreaks of rain to the northwest. Cloudy but dry to the south and east. The best of any sunshine to the southeast. High temperatures at 14 to 19C.
