Southerly winds through midweek

High pressure will stay close to the British Isles into next week, maintaining generally quiet weather conditions overall. Occasional weather fronts moving in from the Atlantic will give local rain or showers. Temperatures will become warm thanks to a prevailing south to southwesterly wind.

Tuesday 07/04/20
Pressure builds across southern Britain and a warm south to southwesterly airflow affects the country. Fronts situated toward the far northwest may bring some cloud and rain to western Scotland and Northern Ireland along with a fresh southerly breeze. Largely sunny skies for central, east and southern England & Wales with light winds. Temperatures rising to 11 to 18C, warmest in the southeast.

Wednesday 08/04/20
High pressure to the southeast promotes a warm southerly airflow again. Remnants of fronts may give cloud and patchy rain for northwestern areas, but most places will be dry with sunshine and light winds. Highs 11 to 20C, warmest across central and eastern England.
 

Thursday 09/04/20
Southerly winds are due to continue, with further warm spring sunshine expected for most. High cloud likely to build from the west as fronts approach from the Atlantic and, eventually, rain will push into Ireland and western Scotland. Otherwise, a dry day for most of Britain. Highs 11 to 21C.
 

Friday 10/04/20
A weakening front advancing eastwards is expected to bring cloudier skies and a little rain: most of this in the west, but very little in the east. Southwesterly winds across northern regions. Highs 11 to 19C.

Saturday 11/04/20
Becoming more changeable overall, as winds become generally west to southwesterly. Areas of rain or showers moving in from the Atlantic, perhaps concentrated on northern areas, leaving the south and east mainly dry. Highs 10 to 16C.

Sunday 12/04/20
A southwest to westerly flow continues through Sunday with patchy rain affecting northern and western areas as fronts edge into Ireland and the northwest UK. Cloudy but mostly dry for much of England and Wales. Highs reaching 12 to 16C.
